I am honored to share that my TEDx Visalia Talk was recently selected as an Editor’s Pick.
The talk centers around a topic that impacts millions of people but often goes unspoken: loneliness.
In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General declared loneliness and isolation an epidemic. Yet despite being more connected digitally than ever before, many people still find themselves longing for deeper, more meaningful relationships.
I know that feeling firsthand.
After moving across the country, I spent years meeting people but never quite finding my local friend group. I attended events, joined groups, and introduced myself to countless women. Yet I still felt disconnected. It wasn’t until I decided to intentionally examine what was missing that I uncovered a simple but powerful truth:
Friendship requires follow-through.
In my talk, I share what I call the Friendship Formula:
-Set a date
-Show up
-Follow up
Those three simple actions transformed my own life and helped me build the meaningful friendships I had been searching for.
The reality is that most people aren’t rejecting us. They’re busy. They’re overwhelmed. And many of them are looking for connection too.
Sometimes the difference between loneliness and belonging is simply being willing to make the first move.
If you’ve been waiting for someone to invite you, call you, or choose you, I hope this message encourages you to take one small step today.
Your people are out there.
They may just be waiting for you to follow through.
