I’m a high-octane person, so the thought of slowing down in any way, shape, or form doesn’t appeal to me at all.
So when a friend of mine shared a simple tip she uses to stay more zen, while still maintaining her high-octane spirit, I wasn’t interested. It seemed counterintuitive.
But finally I reached a point where I was so stressed and so anxious, I to do something.
So I followed her suggestion…and let me tell you, friends, I only wish I’d done it sooner!

I’ve been telling some of my fellow writers to “be bored.” Allow yourself to just sit still, not think, don’t pick up the phone or a magazine or paper to make a list. Just sit and slow down.
